Downloading package files the sims 3
I downloaded 7-zip, no problem. It's in my computer. I tried extracting a mod and that's where I get lost again. It says Open With I'm so frustrated. I can't seem to figure this out. I made a new folder called Mods in the right place. I now have a folder called Mods, so how am I supposed to get the mods I downloaded in there? Once you have a package file extracted, no longer a zip, rar, or 7z , you are not supposed to open it.
There is more to the Framework than just a Mods folder. It's actually three folders nested correctly and a required Resource. The mods and other forms of package based content all go into a folder called Packages. The blue Download button here gives you a Mods folder with the other two folders and Resource.
It also includes two sample mods, NoIntro and NoBuildSparkles, so you can test your setup before adding anything of your own. I suggest removing your Mods folder and put the downloaded one into your game folder instead.
Inside of that you will have three and only three things: An Overrides folder usually left empty unless a mod developer says otherwise , a Packages folder this is where your mods and content go , and the required Resource. Did everything step by step, but when I look at the packages folder, it doesn't say NoBuildSparkles. There is no. I don't know why. I'm going to throw my computer out the window! I don't know how to get a picture of it for you to see.
What I see when I do all these steps is instead of the little green plumbob icon an Internet Explorer icon and the words NoBuildSparkles and then below that is an Internet Explorer icon with the words nointro.
I think that is the problem. The stupid Internet Explorer icon shouldn't be there. How do you get the plumbob? Everything okay? Now if you run the game, your. You already have two package files installed, so you can tell right away whether things are working properly. If you still get the intro movie and build sparkles showing when you test in-game, you must have done something wrong. It will work this way if done properly! Now that you know that package files are working right in your game, you can start downloading custom content yourself!
All of that is explained in detail on: TS3 CC Basics - go there and read about it if you don't know how to do that! Also, you need to install the latest versions of the mods you are planning to download, so check the pages of the mods just in case they may have moved the newest version to somewhere else.
If you do not do these 2 steps correctly, your custom content may not work. Before you try to mod your game, you need to make your game accept custom content. First of all, download FrameworkSetup.
Now, carry that file into the directory of The Sims 3 in My Documents. The default location of that directory is as follows for different operation systems:. Extract the FrameworkSetup. Open the Sims 3 Mods folder. It should look like the picture above. If they are there, this means you completed the most important step, which is the setting up your game to accept custom content.
Test if the packages are working properly. Nobuildsparkles completely eliminates that. Go play the game and build something; if no sparkles effects appear, it means your mods are working in-game. If they are not working as intended, you need to start over.
