Short stories allow a little more experimentation with the sub-genre, but the bottom line for me as a writer — and thankfully for many as readers — is simply whether the story captures your interest and gets you a little hot under the collar. So as ever, I hope you enjoy these stories, dear reader, and though they might not provide the commitment and longevity of a novel, or the precise run-down of the wife-sharing fantasy as appears in your head, I hope you will find something within them to get the imagination fired up.

It was just like how things were in our last year of college, only here we were, all grown up and independent. Even so, I blame Rico for what happened. When I first started dating Isla in college, we were roommates, so my then-girlfriend was accustomed to having him around. Even after we all graduated, Rico and I ended up getting a place together for nearly two years, before it came time for me to move in with Isla.

So, here he was back in Chicago, trying to raise money for a start-up his little group of coding geniuses were putting together. He had a room in the W hotel, and Rico being Rico wanted to plan some kind of party for all the people we knew from college still in the Chicago area.

Turned out there was a surprisingly small number of those, and those that were around were no longer willing to party with Rico, it seemed. I myself had to make a conference call with the West Coast the evening Rico got in, and he was horrified that he might have to spend the evening alone — but Isla volunteered to take him out to a restaurant, and maybe a few bars.

The plan was for me to join them once I finally got out from work. He had that kind of permanent air of having fun, and it really rubbed off on people. While I was trying to pitch our legal services to an electric car manufacturer based out in southern California that evening, I was looking forward to heading out to catch up with Rico and Isla. His short-cropped hair was as black as ever, his eyes dark yet full of life, his skin lightly tan and glowing with confidence, his frame as tall and athletic as it had been in college.

Start your review of His Purchased Wife: Chapter 1. Jun 22, Shrinidhi rated it liked it. I really liked the story and would have given a higher rating had it not been for so many grammatical errors.

At times the author has used similar sounding words but which have totally different meanings. One needs to do lot of guesswork on account of these errors which spoils the reading flow. In one chapter even the name of the character was wrong i.

Ethan instead of Liam. The author definitely needs to get a good editor. Reading the sequel of this book. That too is an interesting story but I really liked the story and would have given a higher rating had it not been for so many grammatical errors. That too is an interesting story but again same issues. Jul 22, Filza Khan rated it it was amazing. This story is so beautiful.. View all 3 comments.

Jul 17, Prapti Parihar marked it as to-read. I've read few chapters and I've found that if the author has spend sometime in New York, before starting to write and if she would have mentioned real places instead of imaginary ones the story would have been more interesting. Secondly I felt that if the hero was so damn rich why he would send his wife to di shopping from a mall instead of hiring atop designer for her. View all 5 comments. This is ridiculous. A disgusting book. Pardon me and do not even try arguing that this isn't because clearly we have far different perspectives towards life but still, but still - how do you justify a rape, eh? And she falls in love with him? A rapist? The man who has raped her? Either you are too immature to understand the severity of a rape or you plain just don't care.

And you have given the c If there was an option of giving this book a rating of zero, I would have gladly done it. And you have given the chapter name as 'Kitchen Romance' right after the night when he had raped her? I mean, I don't have words for you. Emily doesn't represent women. No woman can forget something as unfortunate and painful as a rape, right the next day and be normal to her rapist like Emily is. Hell, Emily doesn't even seem bothered here. And on what grounds, do you really think you have justified the rape?

Oh, well, apparently because he had got a misunderstanding? An absolute lame reason to justify physical abuse and a rape. I can't believe when in the world, women are raped and killed every minute - we have such stories and that too from female authors, I guess? Stop feeding this bullshit to people and train their minds towards thinking that it is okay to get hit, it is okay to bear physical violence and out of everything - it is okay to get raped.

And to those who enjoy reading such kind of stories - kindly ponder upon yourself and question yourself how you can read such things, let aside appreciating the same.

Just because it is in fiction doesn't justify what's being written. You become what you read so read good stuff. Jul 31, Megan rated it did not like it. I almost stopped on the first chapter due to all the grammatical errors. I did however stop after the wedding night scene, how the hell can you build up to romance in a novel with a character I won't call him a hero because he is just a douchebag who beat and raped his virgin wife on their wedding night?

Definitely a great start to a romance novel Secondly, you start off thinking it's taking place in an earlier time as they mention escorts and arranged marriages but then they are talking about iPhones, WTF? There is so much more that could be said about how awful Liam is but honestly this is the first time I have ever been tempted to write a review and it's to tell you to not waste your time on this crap.
