Add citations from databases Adding a citation file from a database For most databases, you will need to select all the citations you want to send and Export as an RIS file type. Using Mendeley's web importer tool Install the Web Importer adding the Save to Mendeley button to your browser's bookmark toolbar.
Instructions here Search a database and select article citations to save. Or you can make selections one-by-one after the Web Importer grabs all the citations on the results page. Add selected citations to a storage place in the database, for example, PubMed's Clipboard. Display the selected citations and click the Save to Mendeley button and then click "Save all" in the popup box. Sync your database. The example below demonstrates saving two articles from PubMed's Clipboard. You do not want to create a new citation from the PDF.
The PDF and citation will automatically be added to Mendeley when you sync. Review added citations Citations are created from the online article. They should be reviewed for accuracy and completeness. Select the Recently Added folder to review the citation.
These notes are now part of the file and can generally be reviewed in any PDF reader. Sadly, there is not yet a standard format for PDF highlights and annotation, so these may render a bit differently from PDF viewer to viewer. I am using Mendeley for quite some time now, but I am missing one very important function.
Is it possible to use taggs in comments or highlights differing colors that can be grouped afterwords? As an example, for building hypotheses it would be great to be able to mark things that belong to one hypotheses across different articles.
I tried multiple times and it is not exporting a file at all, let alone the annotations. I tried to different locations and the problem is still the same. I tried by synchronizing but still did not work. Anybody facing a similar problem and having solution for that? As Arin said, I would really like it if we could export annotations to a text file, or even export them to amend to an existing text file. Is there a way to just print out only the notes and highlights of a certain pdf file?
As in print only the annotations and highlighted text? Please let me know if this has been addressed somewhere else since I only see how to print annotation with the pdf in this page….
I am using Mendeley for 2 years. I found it is very useful. If some one can clarify some of my doubts it would be very nice. How to install Rainbow annotations in the Mendeley desktop which I am using. I am using Mendeley both in my office system and PC. If I add any Article in to my office system, whether there is any way to update same paper in the PC also?
